Calling all Rotarians, family and friends of Rotary.
ROTARY OTTAWA AID STATION – Queen Elizabeth Drive and Gate E Lansdowne Park
An aid station is a location on the racecourse where competitors refuel their nutrition and hydration with products like an electrolyte drink, energy gels, solid food, and water.
Think of it as a grab and go where they stop in, get what they need, and keep racing.
At IRONMAN Ottawa (Canada’s only Ironman race) there are multiple laps and competitors will pass by the Rotary aid stations several times.
Athletes will find electrolyte drink and energy gels, in addition, there’s always water available. Other food items may include bananas, orange slices, chips, pretzels, Coke and chicken broth after dark. Aid stations also have ice for cooling purposes.
Our role is to lay out the selection of the aid and keep the cups filled as runners go by.
There is an early shift and a later shift, we will adjust the actual times we need the volunteers as there are peak times as participants will form a bell curve. Eg we will need a smaller group first thing for set up before the first runner arrives at 12:15ish and we will taper the later group after the bulk of participants have passed by the 2nd time.
Volunteer Registration Link, we require 20 for each shift. If we have more volunteers we will happily integrate them into the scheduling. We should bring lawn chairs and food will be provided for each shift. I’ll be receiving more captain’s briefings and will have more details as we move forward re; suggested parking, specific items we’ll give out etc.
First step is to have volunteers register at the link below using the password rotaryottawa or complete the attached form as we need t shirt size, age, emergency contact etc.

The situation in Lebanon continues to deteriorate and many Lebanese people face a catastrophic situation!
In response, the Rotary clubs of West Ottawa and Montreal Cedars are collaborating to ensure our donated funds meet immediate needs of people in the Beirut communities via local Rotary clubs in Lebanon.
