September 24, 2025: The Rotary Club of West Ottawa dedicated a Peace Pole on September 21, 2025, in the Healing Forest Garden at All Saints’ Anglican Church. Bearing the words “May Peace Prevail on Earth,” it links Ottawa to a global movement while honouring Rotary’s commitment to peace, reconciliation, and Service Above Self.On September 21, 2025 — the International Day of Peace — the Rotary Club of West Ottawa (RCWO), in partnership with All Saints’ Westboro (ASW) https://www.allsaintswestboro.com/ and First United Church Ottawa https://firstunitedchurchottawa.org/, dedicated a new Peace Pole in the Healing Forest Garden on Richmond Road.
A Peace Pole is a monument that carries the universal message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages. More than 250,000 Peace Poles have been placed around the world as reminders of hope, reconciliation, and dialogue.
This project was developed in consultation with Indigenous community members and reflects Rotary’s global commitment to peacebuilding and conflict resolution. The brief ceremony included a land acknowledgement, prayers from church leaders, reflections from Rotary, and words of gratitude.
We extend our sincere thanks to:
Larry Chop (RCWO), who guided the Peace Pole initiative and Rotary’s partnership in this project
Gaye Moffett (RCWO), for her thoughtful closing words and acknowledgements
The Venerable Kathryn Otley and Rev. Chung Yan Lam of ASW and Rev. Dr. Dorcas Kanana Muketha of First United Ottawa for their spiritual leadership
Lamar Mason (ASW) for property coordination and installation of the pole
Dave Rooke (Rotary Stittsville) for design and procurement guidance
Gerhard Peters (Arnprior Rotary, District 7040 Peace Pole Champion) for mentorship guidance
Marcia Armstrong (Past President, RCWO) for her dedication and leadership

The RCWO is proud to join communities worldwide in marking the International Day of Peace with a lasting symbol of unity, hope, and action for a more peaceful world.
