February 16, 2026: It's Rotary’s Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month, and we're proud to announce that Rotary District 7040 will unveil a Peace Pole at DisCon 2026 in Kingston: a visible, lasting reminder that peace is something we build together, locally and globally.

This Peace Pole will be unveiled on Saturday, April 24, 2026, during the opening ceremonies of the Rotary District 7040 Conference, Unite for Good, at the Ambassador Conference Centre.

What is a Peace Pole?

A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol bearing the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” Often inscribed in multiple languages, Peace Poles stand in public spaces around the world as quiet, powerful invitations to choose understanding, dialogue, and hope.

For Rotary, peacebuilding is not abstract. It is one of our core Areas of Focus. From supporting education and youth exchange to promoting economic opportunity and community resilience, Rotary works to address the root causes of conflict and create conditions where peace can thrive.

Be part of the moment

The unveiling at DisCon 2026 will form part of a ceremonial opening that includes an Indigenous welcome and community greetings, reinforcing that peace begins locally, through respect, relationship, and shared purpose. The Peace Pole unveiling launches a weekend designed to inform, inspire, and connect Rotarians and guests. DisCon 2026 features speakers and sessions on hunger prevention, planetary health, storytelling for impact, youth leadership development, and practical tools such as artificial intelligence in grant writing.

Be there when we Unite for Good. Register for DisCon 2026 and join us in Kingston for this meaningful celebration of peace, service, and global impact.
