This annual event was held on May 14, 2022 hosted by The Rotary Club of Montreal West & NDG

The Rotary Club of West Ottawa donated C$3500.00 which came from 34 Rotarians and a top-up from the club.  3 Rotarians attended - Foundation Chair Gord Leverton, Past President Caroline deWitt and Susan Diening.  The photo was taken at the Montreal-West City Hall and includes Astronaut and MP Marc Garneau who is a member of the RC of Montreal West & NDG.
Here is a quick recall of the tour by Caroline DeWitt.
The walk was informative of the neighbourhood - its role in the development of Canada's railroad, Rotary's support of the community centre, and the young men who were killed in both world wars. The war memorial /Cenotaph (next to the town hall) was erected to identify and commemorate their roles.  A member of the Rotary Club of West Montreal travelled to Vimy to participate in the ceremony.

St. Phillips church is decorated with beautiful stained glass windows providing inspiration to the congregation.

The presenter also emphasized the tree canopy - significant trees including a Vimy Oak, a magnificent silver maple, a splendid perfectly formed blue spruce, just to name a few trees along the way.

The walk then continued past Loyola High School to admire the public art then on to Concordia University.
After the walk we enjoyed a full hot lunch, with speakers and the announcement of the winner if the Walking Stick – Cornwall Sunrise!  We need to raise C$5000 to beat them, I think.  Next year.
